This week, we try to find a place for Eggscalibur and simplify Pandamonium. We think balance-wise, Pandamonium was in a good place before, so we tried to leave its power level intact. Also, some of the new additions might allow for pretty wild things, we are ready to bonk them on the head if needed. Have fun! :)

Balance:

  • Reworked Eggscalibur: It can now use Mana to trigger * Food.
  • Pandamonium: Removed speedup effect. Stamina cost 0.8 -> 0.7
  • Staff of Unhealing: Cooldown 1.8s -> 2.0s, Mana cost 5 -> 6
  • Tusk Piercer: Start of Battle Spikes 1 -> 2
  • Poison Ivy: Now gives resistance against all debuffs
  • Lump of Coal (Weapon): Trigger chance 60% -> 70%
  • Lump of Coal (Armor): Block 4 -> 5

We continue with the big changes! This patch, our primary goal is to streamline Spikes-related items. We have made no direct adjustments to the Lightsaber yet, but quite a few indirect ones. If this isn't enough we will be quick with the adjustments.

Last week’s experiments went well, thanks a ton to everyone who gave their feedback in a respectful way! Every change was controversial, but we aligned with the majority of players on how to move forward: Keep the scaling rerolls cost and spacious start inventories while moving the subclasses back to round 8.

  • Added hotkeys: Reroll, Start Battle, Push all items to storage
  • Added keybinds to the options menu

Balance:

  • Subclasses are back to round 8
  • Ranger now starts with a Wooden Sword instead of a Banana, starting gold is back down to 12
  • Reroll cost increase now happens after 4 rerolls and then stays at 2 for the rest of the round
  • Wooden Buckler stamina removal 0.5 -> 0.4
  • Reworked Spiked Shield: Now keeps everything from Wooden Buckler and generates Spikes when it blocks something. (up to 3)
  • Reworked Thorn Whip: No longer gives Spikes start of battle. Now gives Spikes on hit. Accuracy 85% -> 80% Cooldown 2.3s -> 2.4s
  • Reworked Bow and Arrow (original effect is moved to Fortuna’s Grace)

Before we start: We have big experimental changes this week - let’s find out together which ones we like. Because of that, class balance might be wonky for a bit, don’t worry, we have an eye on that :) Have fun!

Balance:

  • Both classes now start with more bags, more gold, less items
  • Reroll cost for the round is now scaled up after 3 and 9 rerolls
  • Subclasses are now picked in round 7 (down from 8)
  • Fancy Fencing Rapier: Cooldown 1.8s -> 1.7s
  • Mana Orb: Removed Mana limit and overflow effect
  • Reworked Manathirst: Removed Mana limit, life steal triggers on Mana gained and is increased by Vampirism. Accuracy 90% -> 100%
  • Falcon Blade: Cooldown 2s -> 2.2s
  • Carrot Goobert: Empower duration 5s -> 4s
  • Corrupted Crystal (Inventory): Cooldown 4.5s -> 5s

Patch 0.2.1 is up on Steam and itch.io! Didn't expect another patch so soon, but the server handling our Ranking system was kinda overwhelmed with so many new players. We decided to rework the ranking a little. Let us know how you find it! Here are the patch notes:

  • Items that only affect an item once/are affected once per item now only show one star per item (Pan, Food, Flute, etc).
  • Revamped ranking! It now shows the progress within the league. In Ranked games, the players’ ranking is now considered more.

Balance:

  • Ranger: starting gold 8 -> 10
  • Stones, Bow & Arrow and Ruby Whelp are now “Ranged Weapons”
  • Spikes, Vampirism only work against “Melee Weapons”
  • Shield of Valor: Block 10 -> 8, stamina drain 2 -> 1
  • Spear: Block removal 4 -> 5
  • Stone: Block removal 3 -> 4
  • Bow & Arrow: no longer generates Lucky on hit - now removes 20 Block on Crit
  • Piggy Bank: gold cost 4 -> 5

Fixes

  • Fixed Pocket Sand blind being removed by Blinding Light
  • Fixed Spiked Shield sometimes allowing to overshoot the limit
  • Fixed Spiked Shield triggering Storage Coffin with the armor generation (only works for spike generation now)

  • Bloodthorne: Reduced Vampirism conversion from 3 to 2. Damage reduced to 3-6
  • Demonic Flask: 1.0 damage per debuff -> 0.7 damage per debuff
  • Wooden Sword: max damage +1
  • Hero Sword: max damage +1
  • Spear: max damage +1, now removes 4 Block
  • Pan: max damage +1
  • Dagger/Poison Dagger: max damage +1
  • Storage Coffin: Chance 35% -> 25%
  • Spike Shield: Now gains a spike every 15 Block instead of 10
  • Fanfare: Cooldown 5s -> 3s
  • Flute: now randomly gives 10 Block, 2 stamina, or 2 Lucky
  • Bow and Arrow: Cooldown 4s -> 3.5s
  • Rib Saw Blade: stamina cost 2 -> 1.5

Other Changes

  • Many tooltip improvements! Texts are more consistent, show less redundant information, highlighting and layouting are better, they highlight trigger conditions now ...
  • “Affected” stars now show in slots that are outside the backpack area
  • Items now show the slots they would use on tiles outside the backpack area
  • Items now show their size and stars (what slots they affect) when hovered in shop
  • Ranking now loads much faster!
  • Item overlap order in shop is now much nicer (bottom is in front)
  • Added hover tooltip for backpack power
  • Shop music now loops correctly
